Raft sofas are handmade in London, from start to finish. This means our London workshop does everything from the frames to the wrapping.
Being in London makes it easy for us to offer a tailoring service for anyone with specific needs. Saying this, most customers opt for our core collection. Our sofa designs have been refined over time to get comfort, proportion and durability right.
We don’t follow trends (so our collection is designed to last — not be replaced)
No staples in our frames (so no squeaking or collapsing)
You don’t have to choose a modular sofa to get it into an awkward building. We can make all of our sofas in parts without compromising the build. (And then we set them up and take away the rubbish!)

Dried — Solar-Powered Kiln We were the first company in the world to set up a solar-powered kiln in Indonesia to dry the teak for our furniture.
The Factory — Run by Toby & Helen Toby is from Australia and studied furniture design before he moved to London and worked for Raft. He moved to Yogyakarta to live and run our factory with his wife, Helen, in 2010.
Reclaimed — Boats, Homes & Bridges Our tables, beds and chairs give old pieces of wood a second life. That’s why each piece is so durable and boasts unique character.
Raft’s wooden furniture is handcrafted from reclaimed teak in Indonesia. Teak is the best quality wood for furniture, indoor and out.
We were the first company in the world to set up a solar-powered kiln in Indonesia to dry the teak for our furniture.

Our sofas are too highly engineered to offer flatpack. Instead, we offer free access visits and can make your sofa in parts to fit inside your home. Then, our professionals assemble it in your home and take away the rubbish.

Raft was founded and is now managed and owned by Mick Quinn and Heinz Frye. Business partners since 1997, you will find them in hybrid space, House of Raft, Raft’s headquarters, showroom and factory on Cricklewood Broadway. Today they work alongside a second generation of Quinns and Fryes.
